ΩΦΕΛΟΥΝΤΕΣ ΑΝΘΡΩΠΟΥΣ
The two words in Greek above translate in English to Acacia's motto, "Human Service." As an international organization, Acacia prides itself on offering service to those in need. Specifically, we attempt to aid those in our local communities, wherever our chapters may be. For Acacia at WSU, this has meant working with organizations throughout Pullman, Moscow and even into the Spokane area.

Acacia Claus is an annual philanthropic event sponsored by Acacia Fraternity's International headquarters. During the event, members from Acacia chapters across the United States and Canada host a toy drive, donating the proceeds to local children in need. For the past several years, WSU Acacia has particiapated in this event, collecting toys to deliver to Shriner's Children's Hospital in Spokane.

Over the past several years, members of Acacia at WSU have braved the elements standing outside of stores throughout Pullman and Moscow collecting toys for children in Shriners Hospital. Through the generosity of both Hodgins in Moscow, as well as Wal-Mart in both Moscow and Pullman, as well as the customers of each store, the WSU chapter of Acacia has been able to collect and donate over $6,000 worth of toys over the past three Christmas seasons.

Acacia Claus may be the most well-known philanthropic event which our chapter sponsors, but there is another event which we participate in annually that is just as popular with our members. Each spring, the Lincoln Middle School in Pullman hosts a spaghetti feed with the proceeds helping to fund a camping trip for fifth graders at the school district's elementary school. For the past several years, Acacia has volunteered to provide the manpower for the event, helping to feed members of the Pullman community as they join together for a noble cause. Our members committ several hours of their day to serve up dinner, with some visitors even recognizing and greeting our members by name year after year.
